About me
Who am I?
My name is Mafalda and I was "made in Portugal”.
I am signed in as an architect in the Portuguese National association (Ordem dos Arquitectos)
I'm currently working in an architecture company in Lisbon (where I started in Feb 2015)
By the end of Dec 2014,I completed both my Master in Sustainable Architecture and Design at Aalborg University(DK) and Engineering Architecture (PT). So I have a double degree in Architecture
I was born and raised in Lisbon,here I took my primary education, at Instituto Superior Técnico, an engineering school.
Due to the education I took based on engineering and sustainability, I am looking for a profession that allows me to be an architect with a sense of integrated design methods, quality and quantity data, the combination of architecture design and engineering knowledge, yet still conscious about designing sustainable products.
I love the research phase of a project and also its concept.
If I could find words to describe me: “Happy”, “smiley”, “caring”, “hardworker”, “persitent”, “fast learner”, “creative” (or like other say "endless imagination") could maybe be used.
Being the second of 4 children, I developed the quality of listening to others’ advices. Furthermore I was always aware of the need to be good in what I do and people describe me as someone that likes to know more and is persistent trying to reach my goals in life/ what I love, such as architecture.
In my free time I read when possible and spend time with my friends and mostly family. Doing volunteering work is something that defines me as person. I usually plan small gatherings and friends events, once I am organised and try to be sociable and friendly, helping to get people together.
I have learned how to play instruments such as portuguese guitar and piano - understanding how music relates to architecture and I love to dance - its is an experience that allows my body to experience the space by itself.

Finalist in an architecture competition Let's Talk About Houses (Cova da Moura project) from
Lisbon Architecture Triennale.
Competition for Students of Architecture and Landscape Architecture
Summary : "The Cova da Moura project represents a very important moment in the 2010 Architecture. Its Triennale pretext is clear and direct: it represents the recognised significance of the ethical, community, and social components of architecture, their ability to transform living conditions and the importance for trainee architects of having contact with reality. It is within this context that schools of architecture and landscape architecture were challenged to elaborate, within the scope of their educational programme, responses to a question: how is it possible for architecture to contribute to making concrete improvements to the living conditions of the people of this neighbourhood?"
