"I love how the environment, politics, art and our society has an influence on how we express ourselves in fashion. All day, every day, I get inspired by small things. My mind never takes a rest. For me it’s how individual objects can tell a story when you combine them. You shuffle, switch, flip, just enough ‘till you get the right feeling. Whether you design, style or work together, interaction is the key."
As a Fashion Stylist I collaborate with professional artists to create inspiring editorials. I have experiences in the build up from beginning to end. Such as: creating concepts, arranging teams with professionals, making call sheets, requesting (design) clothes and eventually getting the best looks on set. I also work as a Trend Researcher for the trend agency Fashion Snoops from New York City. Weekly I deliver them trend reports from (new) stores, restaurants and events in Amsterdam.
As a Fabric and Wash Developer I am aware of the most current fashion trends to implement innovation into the collection. I get my input from fairs, trend forecasts, shopping trips, designers and sales figures. Every season I visit showrooms to buy existing fabrics, but as well travel to factories in Asia for the development of new fabrics. I negotiate in prices with MOQ’s, request lead times and push the suppliers into the right direction of development. When fabrics are ready, I design garments that suit the fabrics, play with the seasonal colors and add, if needed, artworks or washes on top. Eventually I gather all the fabric information, update the PLM system and present the developments to the designers.
We Are Labels has boutiques in Amsterdam with a variety of fashionable brands. At this company it’s very important to give the customer personal attention during their shopping time. Being polite, friendly, helpful and sociable are my daily proceedings. I’m also active in store styling. Weekly I dress the mannequins, take care of the store window and make sure that the clothes hang otherwise in different colour patterns.
As a nanny I am responsible for the care of children from 0 - 4 years old. I have to make sure the daily routine is structured, so they have enough rest, playtime and physical activity. In this company I'm educated to work with theories from Emmi Pikler, Reggio Emilia and How2Talk2Kids. These theories support the natural development of children. Besides my daily routine, I also need to take care of observations. I keep records of the progress of children from my group, check for signs of (emotional) development problems or deviant behaviour. Over all my job is to make sure they get the support they need and leave the daycare with a smile.
Centrum Eetstoornissen Ursula is an eating disorder clinic. I work as a sociotherapist in a group of women with the age of 18 - 50 years old, who get treatment for anorexic and bulimic problems. As well other psychological problems are present, such as depressions, personality-, anxiety- and post traumatic- disorders. I take care of clients who relive traumatic situations and who self-mutilate. As a therapist I guide group therapies and clients individually, set up personal treatment plans and make sure the social environment is as calm as possible. I am experienced in working with the Electronic Patients Dossier and treatment evaluations.
