Graduated in Communication Sciences, I was born in northern Italy in 1981. After moving to Barcelona (Spain) in 2006, I worked for several years as translator and project manager. During my transition to professional photography, between 2014 and 2015, I had been lucky enough to be mentored by the documentary photographer Michel Huneault. In the first half of 2016, I had the privilege to work as staff for the prestigious photo agency Noor in Amsterdam.
My photographic work focuses on contemporary issues related to identity, migration, social (in)justice and development, and is aimed at providing an in-depth look at underrepresented realities, communities, stories and events. While photography remains key to my documentary work, lately I started integrating video footage into my workflow to create short multimedia pieces.
My on-going long-term body of work, The Idea of Europe, focuses on different aspects of the refugee crisis in Europe and is composed by several projects carried out since late 2014. In the context of the largest refugee crisis since World War II, this body of work encourages a reflection on a crisis that is redefining not only the meaning of the Schengen borders and the relationship between EU member states, but also the idea of Europe itself.
