A Voyage to Arcturus – Book ProjectAs an MSc Publishing Student, I had the opportunity to put my design skills forward and work on one of the annual book projects: the revival of sci-fi classic A Voyage to Arcturus by David Lindsay. I was trusted with the general branding of the book, including book cover, template, social media branding, marketing materials, and the design of the ePub. I also managed a small team of four and worked on the production side of the project, including negotiating with printers and making decisions o
  • Buzz Magazine
Buzz MagazineBuzz Magazine is a student-lead production created by the MSc Publishing students from Edinburgh Napier University. My role as Art Director was to redesign the logo and rethink the branding. I also choose a colour scheme inspired by the Pantone colours 2016, and the fonts and designed a general template for my team to follow. I also had to manage a small team of five designers. I also worked closely with the Production Manager, from choosing the paper and the cover finish to meeting various printers to get the best deal. Work history
    Assistant Editor
     - Toulouse, FranceFull Time
As an editorial assistant, I had my own projects to manage, including two novelty books for 6 and 7 years-old children, as well as republishing older books, both illustrated books and novels. I worked closely with both the design and the production team. My tasks also included working on international rights, reading committees and check on the ePub versions of our YA novels. This year allowed me to develop many skills, both industry-specifc and administrative skills such as simultaneously managing various projects, for which I needed to adapt quickly to the company’s organisation, as well as communication skills, as I needed to be in contact with authors and illustrators, designers and the production team.
    Editorial Assistant
     - Montpellier, FranceInternship
I assisted the editors in their day-to-day life, including redesigning covers, layout new books and transcribing and designing the layout for a conference leaflet. I assisted in reading committees and helped develop a new app for disabled children and parents. I also designed an Advanced Information pack to present a novelty book to booksellers.
