About me
I’m Maria, a communication/graphic designer and visual arts teacher, based in Porto, Portugal. Since 2015, I’ve had the opportunity to work with several brands (corporative and institutional), nationally and internacionally, developing visual solutions. Branding and Editorial have occupied the core of my work—digital and print. Also, working in a small team branding studio for the past four years, I developed competences as a project and team leader and I’m comfortable with dealing directly with clients and suppliers. Education and Design are obviously the fields of greatest interest and reflection for me, however, my curiosity guides me in the search for knowledge in the Arts and Humanities in general. I devote much of my time to the study of non-formal education, sustainability education and sustainable practices. Access to quality education is, for me, a primary good and I understand artistic education as fundamental in the continuous search for the creation of spaces for individual freedom in the educational curriculum. My main concerns as a human being are social causes, sustainability and human rights: they play a major role in my daily conduct and choices. I always try to link all these fields because I believe that Education and Design can play an important role in progress of all these causes, if understood and practiced with civic and social responsibility.
