This mini portfolio is a collection of pieces which explain my views towards Trapped beauty. My aim was to identity the agenda behind what is seen as beautiful and overpower it with the ugly, this was to reflect on the views of society today and the idea of people feeling the need to lower themselves as they crave an image of perfection. The word ugly was expressed as the idea of trapped, I believe that the thought of one not feeling they are good enough becomes like a cage which holds us back.
London Screen Service One of my most valued internship experiences was at London Screen Service where I was a print technician assistant. Working here developed my knowledge in textile printing and gave me the confidence to start my own printing. Through this internship I became highly independent towards task such as preparing screens for members and organising. My skills in Photoshop and excel were strengthened and I had the privilege of communicating with and assisting different designers. It was a great experience to see more behind the print industry and network
Martina Spetlova I have had internships in the past with Central Saint Martin graduate designer Martina Spetlova as a personal textile assistant towards A/W14 Fashion week. During this period I was trained further textiles such as working with quality leathers and silks for weaving, the combination of choosing rich colours, textile surfaces and creating pattern positions in which textiles would be placed on. I believe, I was a trusted intern and was given many tasks and responsibilities such as helping select key pieces, collecting the designers final textile pieces from outer textile manufacturers and helping assist in the photo-shoot with the Volt magazine on line editor Cynthia Lawrence-John.
London Selfridges My last permanent job was working as a part time Sales Assistant at London Selfridges where I have gained many skills within nearly 4 years there, such as excellent communication with customers and co-workers and helping with visual merchandising. Whilst working at Selfridges I learnt it’s very important to have patience and a positive attitude daily, this helps increase the customers and gives the company a good reputation. Being an employee at Selfridge's has also provided me with high class customer services skills to meet the needs of all customers whether national or international.
