About me
I am a British-Peruvian bilingual journalist w/ a US I-Visa working as an Assistant Producer for Mallinson Sadler Productions/National Geographic's 'Drain the Oceans' series, which is broadcasted on NatGeo's TV channel and by Disney+.
My job is to assist the PD by polishing stories, securing filming locations, establishing good relationships with a range of contributors (archaeologists, scientists, government officials, native communities, etc), sourcing & clearing archive for WW distribution, modifying filming schedules, translating Spanish-English, editing scripts, and pitching new stories.
Aside from MSPTV, I am also a Royal Television Society mentor to young adults from low-income/BAME backgrounds who wish to start a career in the media.
''Marielle was a natural at seeking and fleshing out interesting stories and contributors - and handled the latter with confidence and sensitivity. The programme is often demanding - Marielle handled the short deadlines and moving goalposts really well - always with a smile and got on with the task in hand. She is dedicated, enthusiastic, shows good editorial judgment, good people and paperwork management and I would very much recommend her.'' - Caroline Coombs, director.
''Marielle was the Researcher on all of the programmes I worked on - I found her to be capable and enthusiastic. Despite working remotely, I felt very supported by her. I knew that I could trust her to get the job done and make good decisions - but turn to me when she was unsure. She has excellent knowledge of what needs to be done to get a shoot on the road and in/out of the edit.
We had a couple of challenging shoots and I was impressed by her professional and fast response to situations. She was very resourceful - finding almost immediate solutions and promptly going to work in securing permissions for a new location, and communicating with several parties to make it happen. When the presenter was delayed, she handled the situation with the right amount of care and strategic thinking, quickly helping to formulate a new shoot plan. Whilst rescheduling the contributors, she handled the situation with discretion and professionalism. She showed a real interest in learning more about the role of Director and an interest in scripting – she has a lot of potential to go far.'' - Helen Richmond, director.
