About me
Mark is a Marketing professional with seven years experience in the music and technology industries focusing on brand partnerships, digital marketing, social media, content strategy, and project management.
After an initial introduction to the marketing landscape via MTV Networks, Mark quickly developed the necessary skills to manage high profile campaigns for MTV hit shows, hone his copywriting talents through regular contributions to the MTV website, and coordinate international talent at various MTV events including Dizzee Rascal, Lil Jon, The Vines and Donovan Frankenreiter.
Close to two years later, Mark was approached by EMI Music New Zealand to take on the Publicity Manager role which would see him manage PR campaigns for every release on the EMI roster. International. touring artists were frequent to New Zealand and Mark had hands on experience running localised publicity campaigns for Katy Perry, 30 Seconds to Mars, Animal Collective, and The Swell Season to name a few. Part way through his time at EMI, Mark was asked to take on the A&R (Artists & Repertoire) role in addition to his Publicity responsibilities and within a year he had signed four artists to full licensing contracts.
In 2011, Mark decided to pack the bags and move to New York City to expand on his career and experience one of the most exciting cities in the world. After some time spent pouring drinks and showing Americans how to make a decent coffee in a Brooklyn cafe, Mark landed the Marketing Manager role at Domino Records which would see him work on campaigns for Animal Collective, Hot Chip and The Kills.
World leading DJ Technology company Serato was the next company Mark joined where he embraced the chance to help a New Zealand based success story expand their presence in the United States. Through extensive networking and all-round hustling, Mark was able to make contacts that led to integrated brand partnerships, securing world class talent for Serato content initiatives, and helping to ensure the first ever Serato in-store site was a roaring success at Guitar Center Brooklyn.
After leaving New York at the tail end of 2013, and a few months of travel through South East Asia and Sri Lanka under his belt, Mark is now based in London and working for Live Nation.
