About me
I am an experienced animation writer, director and producer with credits on over 150 episodes of multi-award-winning children’s TV, currently on the Peppa Pig writing team. Other credits include episodes of Morph, Dipdap, Sarah and Duck and Olobob Top. I was the co-creator, head writer and assistant director on The Adventures of Abney and Teal for CBeebies. I am one-third of newly-established animation production company, TroMi, set up to create animated pre-school content. Tromi has secured BFI funding for the development of an animated preschool series. I work independently as a creative producer and writer with Public Dreams Ltd, on new animated content, and with Potboiler Productions on a live-action comedy drama, co-created with writing partner Amy Stacy. I am also an author of picture books for children and comics for adults, published by Penguin, Viking, Walker, strips featured in the Guardian, Vice, Glamour and Art Review magazines. My graphic novel, Probably Nothing, is being adapted for TV by a well-known playwright. From 2008 until 2018 I worked part-time as a senior lecturer in Animation and Illustration at Kingston University. My workshops provided students with a comprehensive understanding of animation, illustration and communication design. Skills covered include stop-frame, hand drawn, collage, puppetry, live action, editing, lighting, sound design, concept and story development. I love working with companies to develop their ideas, and am always interested to hear about new projects. Contact my agent, Emily Wraith at Berlin Associates, or find me on Twitter, @MatildaTris or Instagram @MatildaTr Reference from Joel Stewart, creator and director of The Adventures of Abney and Teal “Matilda has provided the majority of plot-lines for our writing, as well as much of the narration and many, many general ideas and lots of editorial work throughout the whole process. Her ideas have been consistently funny, original, surprising, and downright numerous and I basically can't recommend her highly enough!” August 2011
