Graphic Designer and Illustrator. I love producing compelling reportage and socially themed work. Lived in Asia for 3 and a half years in both South Korea and Japan, worked for a range of clients producing editorial illustration for publications, poster design and illustration for advertising. Clients include Crypton Future Media (Japan) and Battersea Arts Centre. Love Moebius, Katsuhiro Otomo and Taiyo Matsumoto.
Working on their board game concept "Life is What U Make It" on a freelance basis. Identity and branding, Illustration, Packaging Design, Graphic Design
At Newcastle University I taught on their pre-sessional course, which involved getting foreign students' English up to scratch for starting a masters degree. The vast majority of students were Chinese, with a small number from the Middle East. The job involved marking, testing and planning to improve their IELTS scores.
I designed a door hanger to be used as a free gift displaying Crypton's main mascot 'Hatsune Miku'. The door hangers were then distributed at Crypton's event at the South by South West trade show in Austin, Texas.
I worked as an English teacher at a small private school in Sapporo, Japan for about a year and a half. I taught a very broad range of age groups from very small children up to elderly students, tailoring my classes to their individual needs.
Accompanying a range of other artists and musicians, I produced a VJ style set to go with a live band. The idea was to use an analogue method, so all the artists involved produced their visuals using an old fashioned projector, manipulating the light in different ways. Additionally we designed posters to advertise across Busan in South Korea.
Provided editorial illustration for a range of articles and reviews.
Created a logo and branding for an events group based in Masan, South Korea. We regularly organized club nights in the neighboring city of Busan with a range of DJs. I produced the logo and illustrations on each poster design, along with doing the warm up set at the beginning of each event.
Provided editorial illustration for a range of articles and short stories.
I worked as an English teacher in the southern city of Masan in South Korea for 2 years as part of their national 'EPIK' program. During this time I rotated between 3 rural schools each week, 1 of which was a middle school and the other 2 elementary. I taught their English curriculum and also created and ran their summer and winter English camps.
A more conceptual design Masters offering a broad range of projects open to experimentation. Concept driven and heavily researched based, the course gives students the option to explore any medium from print to animation or digital media. There are also additional briefs on offer as extra curricula activities.
A 1 month full time course preparing students wanting to teach abroad on how to do it professionally in a classroom environment. Extremely full on and difficult, the course quickly provides the training necessary to be able to work in a broad range of classroom environments and teaches many key strategies on how to be effective as an English teacher.
A 3 year BA giving students the option to specialize in either illustration or animation. The first year allows them to branch out into both areas, studying animation basics like walk cycles whilst also learning book binding, architectural drawing and how to make a children's book. Second and third year are more heavily involved with developmental work in one of these two key areas.
I was selected for Hire An Illustrator's ShowCase 100 illustration exhibition at the Framer's Gallery, London. I beat over 1000 candidates to be selected and the work was on show during April 2015. The selected work was also published as a book. http://sc100.co.uk/
A scholarship offering students wanting to do a Master's Degree at UAL a grant covering 50% of their fees. http://www.arts.ac.uk/mypostgradfuture/?utm_source=underground&utm_medium=posters&utm_campaign=vcscholarships
During second year studying Illustration and Animation at Kingston I won the Brill Award for architectural drawing. The award itself has been ongoing for many years and the commission requires selected artists to draw a piece of local architecture that's in danger of disappearing.
