Oh So Coy is an electronic record label created in 2010 by myself with a roster of international & South African artists releasing music in digital and physical formats. I have recently appointed a manager to run the label under my supervision so as to free up my time for other projects and work. My Main tasks include: ARTISTS: The label owes a large part of its existence to unearthing new underground dance artists. I have helped put a lot of South African creators into the broader international field and have always taken on a role in developing people over time to try get the best results musically. The aim is to forge lasting relationships, grow talent and help turn over a profit on both sides at the end of it. MARKETING: Gathering strategic feedback and support from key tastemakers, communicating this to the relevant people and then following up by linking all social platforms back to the source and keeping people aware of each release. Communication is key. DIGITAL: Creating digital assets and distributing these assets to various 3rd parties for end point sale, licensing and other promotional avenues. Creating and managing all content for relevant social media sites like Facebook, Soundcloud and Twitter. ADMINISTRATION: Creation of artist agreements taking in legal implications and making sure all are signed, recorded and safely stored. All artist liaisons relating to release and general relationship building via email and skype calls. Royalty reporting and payments – raising invoices and payment orders. EVENTS: This year has seen the label branch into events for the first time and has so far put on two successful nights. I was involved in the creation of the event concept, rolling out artwork, liaising with printers, event promotion through the use of flyers, posters and social media and event hosting on the night.
