Since 2012 I have been working freelance on various creative management projects; during this time my clients have included The Ritman Library, Amsterdam, Lucy McRae Studio, ARTAND, The Privacy Workshop and SMC/CAC, Vilnius. During this time I have been completing a Masters of Art and Design at the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam.
As a design manager at Studio Round my key responsibility was to be a central point of contact throughout the design process of branding, print, digital and signage projects. This meant being a key constant across a project as it developed through strategy, design and implementation. As the project team changed, the role required me to oversee the handover and ensure continuity by authoring briefs and all the while communicating to the client and managing timelines and budgets. This role also required me to procure services from printers, illustrators, photographers, signage contractors and web developers as required. In addition to my duties as a design manager, I was required to traffic manage the studio and present weekly workflows and quarterly forecasting schedules. This role taught me to become an outcome focused project leader.
The Jacky Winter Group is a group of agencies representing illustrators, 3D designers and typographers; supplying services to the advertising, design and publishing industries. The responsibilities I faced as a manager working across all four agencies in the group, was to negotiate budgets, copyright agreements and timelines based upon conversations and briefs from art directors or art buyers, and to undertake business development trips to the United States and the UK. From these trips I secured ongoing work with Business Week, Wired magazine and Goodby Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco. At the JWG I learnt how to turn a creative vision into a reality.
During my time at Anna Schwartz Gallery I coordinated monthly catalogue publications and commissioned photography of works for both Melbourne and Sydney galleries. I was also required to plan media schedules and procured media as required from international publications including Frieze and Art Forum.
