Do you really want to delete project Reimaging an Image: A Participatory Gallery for the Lots Road Power Station ?
Since my BA I have gained managerial experience in London’s oldest commercial art gallery and an MA in Interior and Spatial Design. As gallery manager, I coordinated 6 members of staff and an intern program, 22 artists, 12 artists estates, 6 national and international art fairs, 36 exhibitions, 19 catalogues and the everyday demands of consignments, framing, website redesign, organising press, transport, conservation, HR, invoicing, billings, building maintenance etc. My understanding of spatial design in fine art lead me to study the commercial side of interior and architectural design. I am now able to manage design projects and have creative input simultaneously.
• Maintaining constant communication with artists and artist estates • Managing exhibition catalogue production. Including overall design, image selection, transcribing and proofing • In the process of designing and managing the development of a new gallery website • Maintaining and creating new social media platforms • Set up a program finding and managing work experience students • Organising stands for national and international art fairs • Keeping track of financial transactions • Managing exhibitions from shipment of works to hanging and sales • Organising consignments of artwork • Proofing of catalogues, labels, biographies • Cataloguing artist estates • Organising the gallery schedule from meetings through to exhibitions • Exhibition coordination from mailing lists, shipping, private views, deinstallation etc.
• General administrative tasks including answering phones, making exhibition labels, invoicing • Managing the financial transactions • Cataloging artworks photographically and through the gallery database • Organising and setting up for private views • Updating the gallery’s social media platforms • Received training in the handling of art and antiques
• Worked alongside 3 editors who made up the beauty department at Grazia. • Answered the phones for the desk, talking to people who were promoting products for the magazine, which I would then pitch to the beauty editors of the magazine. • Through product research, I was able to form relationships with the PR representatives for big beauty brand such as Chanel, Giorgio Armani, Lancome, Estee Lauder. • I was asked to write three articles about the top beauty products, all of which were posted on grazia.com and whose content was not changed. • Helped with research for a fitness feature by pulling in products, I pulled 3 out of the 10 products used.
• By forming a close relationship I eventually ended up shadowing Sarah Younger, who at this time was Head of Project Management at Tate Britain and oversaw construction of the Millbank Project. • Every week I went into a different departments at the Tate, which allowed me to learn about all the aspects that go into running a large-scale government controlled gallery. • These departments included: art handling, corporate, curatorial.
