About me
I am a meticulous, self-motivated graphic designer with experience in print and web design. During the day you will find me at St Luke's Communications working on advertising briefs for clients including Heineken and Strongbow; the rest of my time busying about with freelance projects such as book, logo and site designs. I have worked for collaborative design teams at a children's publishing company, Barefoot Books, and for an online photography gallery, TheseFineWalls.
Projects
  • The Hutto Project
The Hutto ProjectThe objective of the Hutto Project is to assemble a children's choir within an emergency refugee camp in Berlin. Artist and friend Kate Eberstadt along with the participants of the project will compose an original choral work, premiered in a public concert in the of Spring 2016. We wanted the logo and brand to feel warm, and child-friendly - a simple cursive handwriting felt appropriate. The ink burst symbol grew out of images of sacred rose windows - playful outbursts or petals that suggest gathering and growth.
  • Printed Portfolio
Printed PortfolioThe concept behind my printed portfolio was to create individual, hand stitched "chapbooks" (short, inexpensive booklets containing a small collection of poetry) for each design project. Instead of being bound in a contained book, the projects exist as smaller components within a larger ongoing series. The creation of this smaller format feels humble and flexible.

  • Bluets Book Design
Bluets Book DesignBluets by Maggie Nelson offers a lyrical and philosophical exploration of personal suffering, proposing that the love of a colour might fill a void. The book cover design employs papercutting and watercolour. The aggressive act of the papercut laid ontop of a soft blue watercolour reflects how her sense of pain and loss has been repurposed into something productive: the academic and sensual pursuit of all things blue. The nest form recalls the Blue Satin Bowerbird, miraculous birds who collect only blue things to attract mates. Like the bowerbird, Nelson collects a methodical list of blue things which fill her.
  • Chem+Co Annual Report
Chem+Co Annual ReportChem+co seeks to position itself as the world’s premier biopharmaceutical company: diverse, flexible and a leader in all dimensions of human medicines. The design challenge was to lend a humanity to such a large corporation through composition, type and colour. The annual report was created carefully with this aim in mind, with spreads that are dynamic and colourful, solid and bold.
  • Voyante Media Player
Voyante Media PlayerVoyante is a media player for fortune tellers. The design challenge was to create a product that avoids clichés and serves a deliberate purpose. Voyante remains whimsical while clean and useful. To assist these fortune tellers while they are with clients, the playlist session orb clearly times their divination sessions. The emphasis of Voyante is on the ambient playlists over individual songs.
