About me
I am an Indian TV and Film Set Design student over at University of South Wales, Cardiff. I have a background in production management for regional theater in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. My Skill set includes: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, AutoCAD, Sketchup and Draughting. Currently, I'm working on improving my skills with Unreal Engine, Cinema 4D and 3DS Max. I love investigating and learning about creative problem solving within the world of Film and TV that could and do definitely aid in improving my design process and can help me create a better output in terms of the design. On a lighter note, I thoroughly enjoy discovering new TV shows or films to binge watch, moving my feet to Indian Music and making sure I find enough time to read.
Projects
  • The Philharmonic Facade
The Philharmonic FacadeThis façade of the Philharmonic restaurant in Cardiff, was my first student project, made at 1:50 metric scale from white card and mount board. This was my submission for a task - to walk around Cardiff city center, photograph buildings with an interesting front (façade) and pick and reproduce a façade that we felt would challenge us creatively. I chose the Philharmonic because the building has stood against the passage of time and its façade shows its history. And much like the actual building,
  • An Audience with Bjork
An Audience with BjorkThis project was to create a set for the BBC show "An Audience with.." The artist I chose was Bjork, because of her unique combination of music and art. For my set I chose to go with her latest album "Utopia". The elements in my set are nature inspired because Bjork's work always talks about resonating with nature. Another feature - a waterfall made of optic fibre filaments (lit in a gradient manner so as to not be too bright-refer drawing).
  • Sultana
SultanaThe brief required us to make a game show - including designing the games and all - based on an architectural style- for which I chose Indian Architecture. Intensive moodboards and research through the history of the architecture dating as early as 8th century followed. It all culminated in an obstacle course complete with games like Gilli-danda, Ganjifa and a maze round based loosely off of the Chakravyuha battle formation from the Mahabharata epic. Each level is separated by big "Haveli" doors

I'm currently on the last leg of my Bachelor's degree in TV and film Set Design, at University of South Wales, Cardiff. My term-time with the course ends in May and I officially graduate in June. I am in UK with a tier 4 student visa which comes with a 20 hour work week condition during term time.  This course has equipped me with the knowledge of how to work behind the scenes in a production. I can do digital (AutoCAD) and manual draughting at a professional level. I am good with physical model making and extremely proficient at SketchUp. I have a good handle on rendering softwares like Enscape, VRay and Twinmotion. I am also skilled at using the Adobe suite - especially Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
