About me
I am a theatre director and creative arts facilitator based in Hampshire and London. I have an interest in working with socially, historically, and politically engaged texts. I am passionate about working across disciplines, to explore global diasporic identities, communities, and experiences. Making theatre with, and for communities is important to me, and I think it is important for both theatres and artists to establish strong relationships with the audiences they are making work for.
Projects
  • The Twenty Thrive Exhibition
The Twenty Thrive ExhibitionUtilising my research and archival skills, I worked as part of a team of young multidisciplinary artists to curate an interactive exhibition for the public. This showcased over 25 years of public engagement with the Young Vic theatre. The exhibition was shown in the Maria studio for one week, receiving immensely positive feedback from those who had spent time in the taking part department, as well as others who had never been to the Young Vic before.
  • 5 Cally Road
5 Cally RoadI worked on the project '5 Cally Road', researching the written and oral history of 5 Caledonian Road, and the activist groups that had made the building home. This project took place entirely over Zoom. I used oral history interviews taken during the project to produce a verbatim radio play, which was performed by myself and other participants.
  • Dwindle, Peak, and Pine
Dwindle, Peak, and PineI was the Assisstant Director for the King's Players productions of 'Dwindle, Peak, and Pine'. This was a piece of new writing.

I represented the Young Vic at the Lambeth Council ELEVATE networking events. I was responsible for discussing how young people have access to the arts in Lambeth currently, as well as how cultural institutions can work together to increase accessibility. This is a part of continued discussion between the council and arts organisations, in order to maximise opportunities for young people in the borough.

An eight week intensive, teaching the practical and theoretical skills for theatre directing and taught by Jason Lawson. Throughout the course, I worked on understanding the actor's process, critically analysing other directors and actors, and learning how to deliver rehearsal exercises. Understanding of how to realise a text on stage was taught through collaborating with set designer Rebecca Browner. I then put my knowledge into practice at the end of the eight weeks by directing two actors in Scene 7 of Pinter's 'Betrayal'.
