I returned to care while taking the ‘Edit your Novel’ course with Faber Academy. My role includes assisting with personal care, for example washing and dressing, eating and drinking, elimination of waste, but it is mostly about ensuring our residents continue to have meaningful lives, despite the difficulties they face living with dementia. This means one-to-one communication skills are vital to the success of my role, as well as working closely with a wide team to arrange specific, person-centred care.

While still working as PA, I took on the additional role of Technical Editor, working on one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the UK. I had to review technical documents, which included rewriting, so they could be understood by the general public, proofreading for spelling and grammar and making strategic edits to fit wordcounts.
