I edited and commissioned film articles for SineScreen (sinescreen.com), an international film festival magazine launched in conjunction with the World Premieres Film Festival Philippines (www.wpff.ph). For two years, I led an in-house team of six creatives to create and publish four issues of a magazine within a two-month deadline. We circulated over 8,000 copies of our magazine to an international film audience. My editorial duties involved a significant amount of PR and liaising with/reaching out to filmmakers and those in the industry for interview. I maintained the wellbeing of the magazine on a daily basis, including overseeing creative layout, writing and commissioning international contributors, website management, and art direction. During the film festivals I interviewed directors, actors, producers, and a number of other people in the film industry, both on live TV and on the red carpet, on behalf of the magazine. Since 2015, the magazine has been distributed across Asia, Europe, and in California, during the American Film Market in Santa Monica. Under my editorial initiative we released 8 issues of the magazine.
I was the Media Editor at the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), a government arts and cinema council in Manila, for 2 years. I attended international film events as a representative of FDCP, including the MIA (Rome) and AFM (Los Angeles). Under FDCP, I founded SineScreen Magazine (sinescreen.com), launched in conjunction with the World Premieres Film Festival Philippines (www.wpff.ph), an international film festival on the rise in Asia. Daily duties included coordinating a team of 6 creatives and feeding back to senior management. As was part of the festival organisational and screening committees, I liaised directly with filmmakers and their agencies, and led various teams including creatives (12 people), press relations (4 people), and volunteers (25 people). I further co-led events planning for the annual International Film Conference (www.ifx.ph), and arranged monthly screenings and events at the Cinematheque Centre Manila, the city's cultural film hub, which is operated and sponsored by FDCP.
In 2012, as a graduate, I co-founded Bake Creative (www.bake-creative.com), a startup branding boutique to help talented creatives develop their brands affordably. Our work included content creation, web design, copywriting and PR. We worked with a variety of startups in various sectors such as fashion, music, and gaming. In 2015 we won a participatory award from Somewhere To, part of Livity's youth marketing scheme, funded by The Big Lottery fund, and were successfully granted a studio workspace in Tottenham after pitching to space holders.
I worked closely with digital marketing software: Dreammail (email distribution client), CoreFTP (hosting client), Salesforce and Targeted Emails (list generator) specifically. Used Adobe Dreamweaver to build emails in HTML and Adobe Photoshop to edit static and animated graphics on a daily basis. I made assertive creative and editorial choices when building emails. I decided the best aesthetic layout for client emails (e.g. matching border colour to dominant logo colour) and edited copy to a polished standard as every email would be seen by up to 700,000 jobseekers. In my first month of employ, I smashed the all-time record for most keyshot emails made and coded in a day. I also created and distributed step-by-step production guides on my own initiative, which have been implemented into training sessions.
At Alcantara Consultancy I project managed the launch of ACS’s company homepage and social media spaces (alcantaraconsultancy.net). I implemented the office email and intranet database for employees to be more effectively connected in real time. I devised marketing plans to boost client walk-ins. I also designed leaflets, banners and posters for promotional use at festivals and events across the UK. I wrote articles for the immigration news blog on the website, Alcantara Consultancy News. These immigration law-based articles and content written for the company blog increased website traffic and customer conversion by 68% since launching in September 2014.
