I am a current Bioengineering student who is very interested in Graphic Design. Throughout my time in university I have been involved in creating various forms of media Video - Through starting a Youtube Channel I had to learn how to edit my videos, this lead me to becoming very familiar with Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro. This opened many opportunities to create promotional material for many organisations which even involved directing and leading. One of my favourite achievements was creating my own Youtube Intro using After Effects which boosted my confidence despite the learning curve. Print - The logos and digital media I have created has been applied to leaflets, posters and business cards. This has helped push the message of the content through the various forms of physical media. Creating leaflets for a major event held in Sheffield was a highlight for me as I was able to meet the clients need and push my skills. Pictures - I have taken many pictures for events, campaigns and for individuals. My clients have ranged from bloggers, charities, churches, musical events and many more. This is something I enjoy doing as it allows me to really capture so many amazing moments and the beauty within them. I am really passionate about creating content on so many platforms and creating something that has a deeper meaning rather than just being aesthetically pleasing. I would be thankful to have many more opportunities to harness and practice the art of Graphic Design and Content Creation and make many more beautiful moments through visuals.
Creating promotional content or designing for various clients. This has been self taught and I have been able to create posters, leaflets, fliers and business cards. Most recent clients: University of Sheffield Enterprise - which was to make promotional material and a logo for an event that supported minority groups who were interested in business. The minority groups included Black and Minority Ethnic students, Women, Disabled Students and LGBT+ students. Black and Minority Ethnic Student's Committee Sheffield - For Black History Month in the month of October our committee wanted to make a memorable campaign and event out of the month. It was decided that we would dedicate each day to a notable Black person who had achieved incredible feats in their fields or had made a difference in their own unique way. This lead to us creating Daily Dedications, in which I was in charge and did all the designs for, which notified the achievements of News Reporter Trevor McDonald, YouTubers Patricia Bright and Shirley B Eniang, Mae C Jamison, Maya Angelou, Deray McKesson, Amanda Sternberg and many more.
Currently studying Bioengineering in the University of Sheffield which is a degree that combines medical aspects to the world of engineering. This creates specific streams for us as students to undertake. Biomedical Engineering which is the application of design and engineering to solve medical problems so an example of this would be prosthetics. Tissue and Skin Engineering which teaches us how to create skin or other biological matter from cells to aid in the healing process of injuries. Finally the last stream is Medical Devices which includes the teaching of medical imagining machines or other devices and how they work. I take the Biomedical Engineering stream as I believe it is best suited to me, I am taught how to create solutions and use my own practical thinking to solve problems. For a prosthetic limb for example, using engineering knowledge and my passion for design I will hopefully be able to create something that is aesthetically pleasing, but through knowledge of ergonomics, a device that is comfortable, compatible and life-changing for the end user.
