About me
I'm a digital and technology leader who creates social good. I have a track record of devising and delivering effective strategies across a range of sectors, having worked in the media, political and non-profit areas over the past 12 years. You'll often find me communicating about my work as a conference speaker or through my social media and blogs. At The Daily Telegraph, I was one of the newspaper’s most-read journalists, recording more than 100 million page views for my work, leading the company’s online content strategy for the EU referendum and I devised and delivered digital coaching for 500 journalists. In the third sector I've delivered a range of new digital products and services, built Agile teams and embedded user-centred strategies, increasing the reach and impact of our work to make a difference to people's lives.
Projects
  • Rebranding RNID
Rebranding RNIDFounded in 1911, for the last century the Royal National Institute for Deaf People’s mission has been to make life inclusive for deaf people and those with hearing loss, whether through pioneering new treatments for tinnitus or promoting access to sign language. The charity, which has been known as Action on Hearing Loss since 2011, decided to rebrand and rethink its mission in a bid to reach a wider community of people. To mark the new chapter, the charity returned to its original name of RNI

telegraph.co.ukA re-design of The Telegraph’s home page, bringing the richness and edited experience of the printed paper to online, to create a more premium experience worth paying for. Designed with reader engagement as a priority, the design puts The Telegraph’s journalism at the forefront, whilst providing better integrated (and more impactful) advertising. It’s flexible structure enables editors and designers to create near-unlimited layout variations, to respond appropriately to the ever changing news

I'm putting deaf people and those living with hearing loss and tinnitus at the heart of our charity's digital development. I do this by leading a team of user experience, brand and marketing experts to build new experiences and communicate about the work we do. The impact of my team's work is being felt in many ways. Our users now have access to support tailored to their needs, from expert information written with content design in mind to a video-based support service for people whose first language is BSL. We’ve achieved a lot in a short period of time after I introduced Agile working methodologies to the charity and embedded service design into our strategy development.

Young people living with cancer were impacted by my work at CLIC Sargent as I led the roll out of new digital products and services. Key achievements included a new charity website that prioritised information and support for young people and their families. I also led the roll out of live chat, connecting young people and social workers online for the first time. The charity saw a 77% year-on-year increase in the value of online donations after the roll out of a new supporter experience. We rapidly developed thanks to the introduction of Agile teams. I inspired CLIC Sargent's workforce to embrace digital and technology by hosting the charity's first Digital Summit which championed our vision for the future.
