About me
My career interests are inspired by the opportunity to be part of a collaborative team, working on innovation-driven research and development projects in sectors such as information management, technology, visual analytics and digital media. I am motivated by the challenges of client-focused work, the diversity of user and market research applied across different sectors, and the formulation and implementation of solutions with tangible impact. My academic and work experience in design and information services has contributed to the development and application of a strong set of analytical, critical and lateral thinking skills, as well as various research and data wrangling techniques. I am skilled in abductive reasoning, synthesis and evaluation of new information and the communication of results and insights into complex problems. Along with the ability to conduct research and organise large amounts of information effectively, I have a keen interest in the development of information products which pose contingency challenges and facilitate new business and communication models, with a particular focus on qualitative research and creative use of data. Currently, I aim to combine my interests and skills gained through working in the public sector, and further extend my experience in a business environment. Ideally the type of work I am seeking involves working for a creative/digital/technology consultancy on a number of projects, with qualitative user and market research aspect.
Projects
  • Text Box
Text BoxText Box is a contemporary approach to the Surrealist technique of writing known as automatic writing, which consists of producing text without being consciously aware of its content. This project uses a letter from Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet as a starting point and employs computerized writing without any coercion, so the process is triggered by the sound picked up from its immediate environment. The software’s ability to interpret the sound as a word is restricted to the grammar file embedded in it, which consists of over a thousand nouns extracted from Rilke’s original text. The match between the input and the grammar file is then displayed on the screen, continuously reconstructing the original letter, regenerating its content and meaning while keeping its original grammatical structure. Collaboration with Maria M Carrasco. Built with Processing 1.5.1 & Voce: Open Source Speech Interaction Library.
  • This, That and the Other
This, That and the OtherTaking the form of the archive as a starting point, this research projects maps out our brief investigation into the subject by referencing key works and illustrating our speculative dialogue on the possible translations of the concept in the sphere of graphic design. The resultant set of printed materials not only illustrate the variety of layout combinations and the plurality of readings that could be achieved when using archival methodology in layout but also serves to propose alternative readings and association methods. Collaboration with Maria M Carrasco.
  • This Way Next
This Way NextDesign of all printed materials and the identity for BA Graphic Design 2012 graduation show. My role included doing the layout of the catalogue and the post cards as well as collecting the necessary written copy for them. Collaboration with Maria M Carrasco, Scott English, Louise Lynn and Brad Rose. Design Coordination: Miglena Minkova. Photography: Rafael Camisassa.
  • Open Education Week
Open Education WeekLogo proposal for Open Education Week 2012, the first ever world wide event of its kind, organised by OCW, which promotes free and available educational resources for everyone. The logo represents a free-scale network of points which static position corresponds to the geographic locations of all participants in Open Education Week. Based on Hoberman’s sphere, this shape is capable of folding down to a fraction of its normal size, an it is used as a metaphor which presents the core values behind Open Education Week. The design of the logo is built on Processing 1.5.1 and could be easily amendable without changing the core connections between the points. This allows for the generation of multiple variations of the logo, without any loss of the general identity. Additional web or signage graphics could be generated. Collaboration with Brad Rose.
  • Greetings from Google
Greetings from GoogleA series of postcards illustrating the local Google engine predictions for 166 countries which currently support Google Instant. Based on the predictions derived from conjugating the verbs ‘to be’, ‘to have’ and ‘to do’, Greetings from Google is a convenient aggregation of up-to-date information which reflects the current interests of particular groups of people through ephemeral snippets of information. Relevant at the present but slowly updating and sinking into obscurity, this collection of automated predictions is committed to print in the form of greeting cards, making up a temporary and autonomous collection of search memorabilia.
  • Future City
Future CityA human-centric identity proposal for Sofia Architecture Week 2013 featuring three subsections of the festival, various formats and location branding. Collaboration with Georgi Dimitrov.

  • This Way Next
This Way NextThis Way Next - BA (Hons) Graphic Design Degree Show Camberwell College For this project, my role was directing a project with a small team of designers (my fellow classmates on the course) to produce material for our end of year show. Rather than running a photoshoot of the students for our promotional postcards, I asked each student to each bring an item which represented them, or their design practice best. We then shot each item in the photography studio, and used the images for the postcards (as opposed to traditional business cards) which were available at the show. The poster is a culmination of these images, and was used as a wraparound for each catalogue. Catalogue designed by Miglena Minkova. Poster and catalogue printed by Evolution Print. Postcards printed by Orange.
