I am a recent Linguistics graduate with a year of experience working for Amazon Alexa Data Services, and am looking for an opportunity to work in marketing and branding.
- Cambridge, United KingdomFull Time
My role as a Content Editor for Amazon Alexa Data Services was a linguistic-based role which I held for just under a year. Responsibilities included: - Improving the speech of Amazon’s Alexa device by researching the phonology of different languages and phonetically transcribing words accordingly. I built excellent research skills and learned to find accurate information quickly and in line with customer-set deadlines. - Editing documents such as guides and instruction manuals appropriately for different locales. Edits involved stylistic changes and fact-checking cultural references in order to make documents appropriate for different varieties of English (e.g. Australian, Irish etc.). I held this responsibility of localisation lead for my office and gained valuable editing experience. - Creating training materials and delivering training sessions for new employees. Being the training lead for my team improved my presentation skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively. - Managing my team when required, which made me responsible for monitoring and coordinating workflow to meet deadlines.
