About me
Miri Stevens (b.1993) has just graduated from Falmouth University’s BA Photography programme. Most recently, Miri was chosen as 1 of 20 outstanding UK art graduates in Creative Review magazine’s 2015 talent spotting, resulting in one of her ‘Curious Continuous’ images being shown Nationwide in a JCDecaux billboard exhibition. Elsewhere, her work has received considerable exposure having been exhibited twice at Photographique Bristol, regularly published in Zero Magazine’s Photo Lux section and reviewed by Hold Up Now. Miri has recently moved to London to pursue an arts career and is currently teaching children filmmaking with Studio Film School.
Projects
- Curious Continuous'Curious Continuous' is an ongoing series of serendipitous encounters, reinventing the snapshot aesthetic. The work rejects conventional beauty, advocating chance aesthetics and the power of peripheral vision. Reflecting the photographer’s unique hypervigilance, it beautifies the mundane everyday, allowing viewers to question what they see. The images state that photography is not about the camera as by using her iPhone, which is rarely not to hand, Miri documents more freely, whenever and wherever, showing viewers the beauty they are missing on a daily basis, ironically, because of their iPhones.
