In my previous position as a Hostel Manager, I got experience working in a busy office environment. I learnt to successfully prioritise and manage my workload from which I gained a diverse set of skills: - Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite from managing reservations, keeping inventories, general maintenance of filling systems and bookkeeping - Budget allocation and management by tracking and monitoring the financial plans of the company - Marketing and communication skills by designing and implementing the hostel’s marketing strategy and managing the social media accounts - Graphic and web design skills by designing the promotional materials, building the company’s website - Team building and leadership skills acquired from recruiting, training and supervising the receptionists
I supervised the exhibition and interacted with the visitors and artist both on site and remotely. I administrated the social media sites and generated content for those social media accounts. I also tracked metrics to see how the content was performing.
Leadership and Community Partnership Summer Programme The course enhanced my critical skills and reflexive practices in community leadership through community immersion. It applied experimental learning about leadership for social actions. During this course I received workshops and trainings which developed my following skills: facilitating group processes, asset mapping, fundraising and grant writing and understanding of employment in the public and non-profit sector.
Researched, Planned and authored a 10,000 word dissertation on the impact of visual culture in the collective memory of people and the use of imagery in writing history and educating the population.
During the summer school I studied modules such as ‘China’s Strategy and Stratagem in World Politics’ and ‘The history of American Journalism’ taught by both Chinese and American lecturers, which gave me an insight into different educational approaches from around the world and made me understand the mutual dependence between education and culture.
