About me
Freelance travel and copywriter. I started my career working as a freelance journalist, primarily for The Mail on Sunday, The Independent and The Guardian in the UK, until a summer spent working as a travel writer in The Basque Country in 2016 changed everything. I came home and, after almost a year at one of the UK’s top ten communications agencies, realised two things: firstly, that city life wasn’t for me and secondly, that what I enjoyed most about PR was the opportunity to write copy for a wide variety of clients and to adapt the tone of voice accordingly. I relocated to Newquay to work as an Account Manager for a Cornish media agency. There, I witnessed the creative process behind marketing campaigns from start to finish and worked with and wrote copy for a variety of clients from the automotive and banking industries, to food and drink. I also completed a course in SEO so that I could improve upon the agency’s offering to clients. The experience of working with such a range of clients only deepened my earlier realisation, but writing still wasn’t the main focus of my role. So, at the end of 2017, I made the decision to go freelance and work remotely. In the past few months, I have continued to work with a broad range of clients, from technology start-ups to travel companies, while also writing travel articles about my adventures in the Southern Hemisphere. Examples can be found in my portfolio. If you have a project you think I would be interested in, I’d love to hear from you. Please email me at: morwennasian@gmail.com

  • Medialist blog content
Medialist blog contentMedialist is a simpler and easier way for PR organisations to create media lists, track outreach and manage all their influencer relationships from one place. For this blog article, I combined the insight I'd gained from my early career as a journalist with my experience of working for a PR organisation to provide a two-sided view of how modern PR organisations conduct "sell-ins". I also conducted extensive research into the PR, journalism and influencer industries.

    Account ManagerWavelength Media
     - Newquay, United KingdomFull Time
Wavelength Media is a full service creative agency embracing a simple approach to effective marketing solutions. They are the curators of Wavelength Surf Magazine and Website, Europe’s longest running and industry leading surf publication. Wavelength Media has a uniquely skilled team of designers and photographers adept at suiting creative and branding to individual brands' needs. As an Account Manager, I liaised with these designers and photographers to ensure that work was completed with a strong client focus in mind. I worked on up to four accounts at a time, across a variety of industries, from alcoholic drinks to banking, managing client expectations, delivery schedules and any amends that need implementing. I also made frequent use of my copywriting skills, offering this as an extra service to clients if they required it. In this role, I wrote copy varying from web content for the auto-vehicles industry, to brochure copy for a financial services client. Alongside account managing, I sub-edited the Wavelength magazine and website and took the lead with ideas for the marketing of the agency itself. I restarted the agency blog, on which I wrote a regular post on topics relevant to the agency and our clients and worked to develop the agency's social media strategy, as well as a client-facing regular newsletter.
