About me
Who Am I?
Firstly, hello. My name is Murray Aston and for the next couple of paragraphs I will introduce myself in order to give you a rounded idea of who I am.
To say I'm creative is a given. However, what is not apparently evident through my portfolio is the mindset I undertake.
I look to surround myself with like minded individuals who are also creative communicators. People whom like myself can appreciate the human centered creative approach.
I am a man who wakes up eager. My drive is to learn and my goal is more about a successful greater good than individual awards or accolades. I am fun, humorous and I like to explore my life.
Now, against academic advice no personal briefing would be complete without telling you who I'm not. So, as it stands I am not afraid to smile. I am not afraid to add one more to the group and enjoy the difference of varied opinions. I am not someone who ostracises others. In fact the more social arkward a situation, the more I find myself applying a stronger sense of all round inclusion. To this end I am not shy. Confidence comes from within and I am not standoffish when interacting with others.
Creatively my portfolio speaks to my design interests and looks to show an understanding as to where I am today. My multidisciplined design approach is rooted in graphic design, but as creative practices advance with technology I embrace its direction. I am interested new professional opportunities and in short, I am interested in working for you.
I am a lot more but I am always, Murray Aston.
Projects
- Movie Poster Design: MANT!!!Right (...said Fred), the brief this time was to create a movie poster for a movie that was contained within another movie, not weird enough, the catch was that the particular style of the movie poster needed to be in the style of another artist. So, crumpled pieces of paper were drawn out of a hat and I drew (the evil genius) William 'Big Bill' Kentridge. The movie within a movie was 'MANT!' which is in the movie Matinee. (Well worth watching...) Okay, so I saw and image of a woman holding a bottle of coke on the net and revamped her and drew the woman "holding" the tube of Mant Cream in charcoal. (Nightmare!) I wrote the copy, made the elements and pieced the rest together in InDesign.

Blindfolded, handcuffed to another dude and left on an island. This pretty much sums up how I handle myself under pressure.
