BIO
Naroa Pérez's (Barcelona, 1978) photography has been exploring the emotions of touch, nostalgia, and fear since 2002. Her work is focused on the darkroom and its process, with an emphasis on procedural features like mistake, chance, and repetition. Her photography interests include liquid emulsion tehcnique, and colour printing and colour transparency E6.
Her work is already in the library of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, as well as the rare book collection of Oxford University's Bodleian Library in Weston. In 2017, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Photography from London College of Communication (UAL).
She is now working on a project that is outside of her personal work as a photographer. She is the director of Lakeside Affordable Darkroom, which is located in Thamesmead, London, on the shores of Southmere Lake. As the director of the darkroom and a practising photographer, I established a thriving community of creative professionals, actively promoted and conducted workshops, served as a mentor and educator, and developed my own artwork.
The project's purpose is to provide a low-cost facility for photographers as well as to organise a low-cost activity programme for photographers and the entire analogue photographic industry.
Affordable Lakeside Darkroom is an organisation that provides art education to analogue fine art photographers. The space is designed to help fine art photography students and graduates transfer into the professional art world.
The facility provides a quality darkroom and post-production facilities at a reasonable price, allowing them to continue researching analogue photography while also forming a community.
We provide technical and practical assistance, including a low-cost darkroom where you can continue to experiment with artistic possibilities. And a meeting and debating place, as well as a room to edit work, conduct mentoring sessions, chat, and exchange potential collaborations. It contributes to the preservation of artistic discipline.
