Responsibilities Include:
Meeting with fabric agents to source new/renewable fabrics
Responsible for researching and pitching collection ideas to customers
Sketching collections using Illustrator
Creating prints and placement prints for garments
Use of apparel to upload design sheets, make and trim information
Working with Gerber technician on costings of placement prints
Organisation of production across all design samples through the machine room as well as sending to customers to meet their buying deadline.
Achievements:
Having several of my placement print dress designs for Phase 8 (Melita Dress, Tracey Dress) and Studio 8 (Bella Dress) made, brought, manufactured and in stores.
Researching and Sketching Ideas for Hobbs, being able to pitch these to the buying team and designers and these being made and brought.
Working with Fabric mills to create the required lace scallop, to be able to use it as a placement on Phase 8 Occasion-wear’s in particular their bestselling dress - ‘Lottie.’
Involved in design meetings in house and with the customers.
Working closely with the sales team and Gerber technician especially on placement prints to make sure the garment is in price.
Ordering lining and trims on time for each design sample to meet customers’ requirements and to ensure the garment, with correct trims, is with the customer for each of their deadlines over all departments.
Designing move-ons for best sellers across all brands but particularly Phase 8 daywear Swing dresses and Hobbs WTW jacket and trousers.
Becoming very confident in the use of the Adobe design software.
Working very closely with the fabric mills and self-approving fabrics, based on colour/ faults placement and size. Discussing with the mills if there are problems and working together to solve these.
