About me

Three years in experiential events production leading the growth and development and strategic partnerships around the world's first Hot Tub Cinema and more recently Pillow Cinema. An ardent champion of genuine and authentic experiential activity being an increasingly critical marketing tool for engaging customers. Over 15 years experience in marketing and communication strategy – both consulting and in-house across Asia and Europe. In last ten years have worked on projects in the UK, Spain, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, Australia and New Zealand. Particular expertise around innovative concept development, marketing and communications strategy, social media strategy, integrated marketing communications, launch PR and blogger outreach and optimised design for print and web.

Hot Tub Cinema Pillow Cinema

  • Launched the global phenomenon that is Hot Tub Cinema in July 2012 on a rooftop in East London alongside long time friend and Founding Director Asher Charman. Three years, three countries, three hundred shows and over thirty thousand guests later Hot Tub Cinema has forged it's own category of experiential cinema. In 2014 the team behind Hot Tub Cinema also launched the successful, ultra-cosy sister brand Pillow Cinema placing giant beanbags in an abandoned underground station and on rooftops with a year of continuous sell out shows. Nick leads the PR, marketing and brand partnerships for both of these innovative brands in both a strategic and delivery role. Nick also develops innovative multi-channel campaigns to raise awareness, sell tickets and foster stronger links with our growing community of cinema enthusiasts. Nick also plays a key role in the active production once the show is on the road including Venue sourcing, Cost/Volume /profit analysis and project feasibility studies, production planning, hospitality and bar management, show delivery, compere and DJ duties.

Brought a wide range of skillsets to any campaign including: - Strategic issues assessments and marketing communications planning - Stakeholder engagement and local strategic partnerships around major projects - Political lobbying and public affairs and pubic relations advice - Online and offline PR support and blogger outreach - Online grassroots supporter recruitment and mobilisation Clients included Pepsico International, Zork International and mBill mobile payments. Highlights included working as a specialist communications advisor to AMV BBDO on Pepsico / Walker's 'Sandwich' campaign. This integrated campaign saw the brand stage a series of stunts in the tiny village of Sandwich, then release 27 separate pieces of content on social media in one week. It broke new ground for the previously TV-led crisp brand, and contributed to an 11% increase in sales for Walkers. The campaign won Gold, two Silvers and a Bronze at the Cannes Lions Festival.

  • Worked as specialist communications and political advisor to AMV BBDO on Walkers 'Sandwich' campaign. This integrated campaign saw the brand stage a series of stunts in the tiny village of Sandwich, then release 27 separate pieces of content on social media in one week. As the entire campaign premise relied on it remaining a secret to ensure genuine surprised reactions of community members being filmed my role was to meet in secret with key political and community key opinion leaders in Kent and initially scope at arms length from Pepsico the political environment and conduct an issues risk assessment around the possibility of any community or political backlash around such a campaign. Then was given full green light I worked on the ground to develop innovative political and community outreach programs before, during and after this campaign to ensure the film shoot and multi-channel marketin
