About me
I am creative, hardworking, eager to learn, reliable, and highly motivated. I have always had a strong interest in fashion. Ever since I was in school, I have always wanted to work in the fashion industry. I’m constantly looking at clothes online, and keeping up to date with the latest fashion news, and trends through social media, and fashion magazines.
I have recently graduated with a degree in Fashion Promotion at the University of South Wales, which has been the ideal course for me. I am especially interested in social media, marketing, creative direction, styling, blogging, visual merchandising, illustration and print media. As a way of combining all of the skills that I have gained over the duration of the course, I recently set up a menswear fashion/lifestyle blog ‘Nicholasaurus’ to showcase my work and interests.
Eight years of retail experience has afforded me the opportunity to develop excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. I have learnt to work well as part of a team, as well as autonomously, and I understand the importance of providing excellent customer service.
I am now keen to start to develop a career in the fashion industry, and am in a position to seek employment opportunities.
Projects
- Gender NeutralThis body of work was created in collaboration with Spindle magazine. Inspired by Selfridges Agender campaign, and gender neutral fashion pioneers like Jaden Smith and Hood By Air. I acted as creative director, ensuring that the styling, photography and post-production of the photoshoot embodied the overall concept. I experimented with both digital photography and film, always keeping in mind spindle Magazines ethos and identity.
- Gender FuckFor this project, we were given a plain white dress that was made by a fashion student from our university, and we were told that we could do what we wanted with them. This body of work was inspired by the 'in your face' attitude of gender fuck drag & the movie 'Spring Breakers'. I wanted to capture the hardness of the balaclava and grillz, in contrast with the softness of the white dress and the pastel coloured backgrounds. The editing was inspired by Nick Knight's photoshoot of Sky Ferreira for Another Man Magazine.
