I am a highly organized person having worked in close proximity to managers, curators, artists, directors and designers throughout my previous work. Having initially trained in the arts I consider myself to be a creative individual; that allows me to think outside the box and means I am not shy to turn my hand to different tasks that I may be unfamiliar with. Running events – openings, symposiums and selling artwork at closing events. Being in contact with the artists prior to the exhibition regarding shipping work, research and booking flights/accommodation. Installing/de-installing for shows and events within the Gallery and assisting in anyway needed. Updating the webpage (adding information and formatting the website i.e. Adding the ability to purchase items online). Drafting press releases, newsletters and posters before they are sent off to print. Promoting the Gallery by creating and managing an instagram page to create a larger social presence and regularly keeping the Facebook up-to-date.
Digitising an archive of U-matic and Beta films, by watching the films in real time – making sure the tapes are in the best quality they can be (achieved using MAC – FCP). Creating a fresh database, which combined all other versions of information maintained throughout the years of Cinenova. Liaising with artists and customers to provide a swift service, by packing up 16mm prints for international screenings, making DVDs and sharing files via servers. Promoting the company by creating a Twitter account and sending out mailing lists for upcoming screening events at The Showroom. Cinenova is run by a group of volunteers (the Director of Electra being one of them)
Assisting the director in daily tasks; monitoring accounts with spreadsheets to focus on the companies spending. Researching for upcoming event and preparing for the tasks on the day. Managing any bookings for events and processing purchases made through the website. Editing images on behalf of the director and regularly updating the diary surrounding events and meetings.
Furthering on from my internship role, working alongside the director and helping the curator, Fatima Hellberg to manage the upkeep of workload and research while she is away in Germany.
Working Freelance researching for an upcoming show at Künstlerhaus in Germany. Conducting most of my research from London, but also traveling over to Germany in September for the bulk of the set up of the exhibition.
Working in a fast-paced retail environment selling luxury fragrances – this role is focused on communication, to discuss the customer’s needs and supply them with my knowledge. I am frequently running the store single handedly, cashing up, managing weekly/daily paper work and arranging rotas. Managing other members of the team and running promotion change to make sure the store is up to date and in a professional manner.
