Education
MA English: Issues in Modern Culture
London, United Kingdom
Studying literature and culture from the 1860s to the present day. My research topics have included: contemporary poetry; representations of American suburbia in literature and popular culture; theorising authorial intent and reception in post-apartheid South Africa.
BA (Hons) English Literature 2:1
- London, United Kingdom
Studied English literature from its origins (Anglo-Saxon literature from the 8th century, studied in the original language) to the present day. I took modules in Anglo-Saxon literature, the Renaissance, Victorian literature, Modernism, and Post-Modernism. Alongside my studies, I was involved in a number of societies and extra-curricular activities; in my final year, I was unanimously elected President of the English Society (a student-run society for members of the English department). In May 2016, I balanced writing an 8000 word essay, revising for 5 exams (a total of 21 hours of exams), and single-handedly planning a ball for 150 people, which took place at the end of the month, a week after my exams finished. Despite juggling all of these responsibilities, I finished the year with a high 2:1 (2 marks below a First), and received a prize from the department for my activities.
Awards
Rhiannon Jones Memorial Prize
Prize awarded to the student who has contributed most to the life of the English Department.
