Nikita Oakley is a recent graduate of the Ceramic Design Course in Limerick School of Art and Design. Born in 1994 in the midlands, Co. Offaly, Nikita, always had a fascination with the outdoors. Spending summers in the bog and helping out on the family farm. Her work explores areas of nature, memory, physicality and personal sense of place. She attended LSAD in hopes of pursuing a career in painting but decided on ceramics, as the material allows a much more tactile, freer and diverse range of opportunities to convey her ideas. Working with her hands is most important to her. Inspired by her love of nature and outdoor activities such as geocaching, hillwalking, scouting and kayaking her work derives from a sense of exploration and curiosity. Recent group exhibitions include the Ceramic Ireland open member’s exhibition in Farmleigh Dublin, <<open>> exhibition in LSAD Church Gallery, Crank it up in the Methodist church Limerick.
