About me
BA (Hons) Graphic Communication 2:1 With a natural flair for creative design, my peers would say I’m a hard-working individual with an analytical approach to graphic design. I have considerable work ethics and a desire to achieve quality outcomes. Using market research reports and keeping up to date with trends helps inform my decisions. I enjoy problem-solving, gaining insight from research and forming ideas and strategic solutions to suit client and audience. I love planning designs and piecing together all the elements of a project, especially symbolism, the aesthetic expression of concepts, and creative writing. I’m an active listener and communicator, with an ability for successful time-management and multi-tasking. I can offer valuable insight from direct experience of life’s rich tapestry and a variety of completed projects (see portfolio @ https://nikkilaw.co.uk ). My passion is colour, and I have a broad understanding of the meaning, psychology and communication of colour for branding, which I studied in depth for my degree dissertation. My grades and feedback demonstrate a proven ability to produce high-quality artwork. As a recent graduate, I am familiar with a variety of printing techniques and have prepared artwork ready for printing, including communication with local printers. I have a mature, polite and empathetic approach and my experience with communicating on a professional level will help build trust and confidence among clients. My interests include digital photography; pattern design for fabrics, interiors and fashion; colour grading in Adobe Lightroom Classic and painting (a few works in public exhibitions). I keep up to date with trends and new developments in design, paper and print through Design Week, AIGA Eye on Design and other methods. I believe I’m a suitable candidate for any Junior Graphic Designer position. I would relish styling, editorial composition, book cover, pattern collection, and social media marketing positions. I’ve had a long career break due to raising children (one with special needs and disability). I have re-trained and gained a BA Degree. I’m seeking an entry-level position in fields relating to art and textiles, interior design, botanical, jewellery and beauty. I’m keen to work with a team and follow designs and artwork from their conception to final sign-off. I believe my previous work experience and interests offer potential in Art Direction. Available from October 2019
