This has proven to be my biggest challenge yet, with the belief that pressure makes diamonds I am working with a small team to start a company from the ground up. Clokc is an online retailer that specialises in exclusive Men's, Women's and Kids footwear. My roles within the company include lead creative direction in Branding, Photography, Social Media and UI/UX Design; with regards to the online store (mobile & desktop). As it's early stages my portfolio doesn't include Clokc but feel free to check out our Instagram: @clokcldn Wish us luck!
Working with the Global Windows Department to create a magazine titled 'International Buying Fair, SS17' - I hear better design comes from restriction, as opposed to Art where creative liberty is key. I believe the most creative design concepts are born from specified concept or strategy, when the form follows function - very important with regards to concluding a creative solution to a clients business problem. When working with the team at M&S I always remember to implement the thematic visual identity in order to maintain the M&S brands' voice - that being said, the International Buying Fair magazine is an internal piece of printed communication, which allows for a little more creative freedom on my part. I did my best to balance the M&S visual identity with the Spring/Summer 2017 trend that was hand picked by the Windows Menswear, Womenswear and Kids Specialists. (Unfortunately due to NDA I am unable to post this piece of work on my portfolio until June of 2017 - references are available upon request)
I worked with the Global Field Visual Merchandising team on multiple projects to perfect their global communications and in alignment with the M&S visual identity, this included internal print & digital communication: Magazines, catalogues, newsletters and some admin work to help plan and orchestrate the communication mediums. In addition to putting the content together, I was able to exercise my photography muscles to be used in the aforementioned communication mediums. (As these are internal documents I am unable to display the works until the end of 2017 - references are available upon request)
Art Director, Editorial Designer & Photographer This was an invaluable experience and my first step on my chosen career ladder. Initially I was contracted to work for 2 weeks to create an internal Trend Magazine using the M&S brand guideline with a little creative freedom, Adobe Photoshop to edit images, Adobe Illustrator to create visual elements and Adobe In Design to put it all together. I received great feedback from the team at M&S as well as Directors and global heads of Visual Merchandising. The feedback lead to my contract being extended multiple times over the course of 10 months. In addition to creating print documents and magazines I was commissioned to travel to Brussels, Belgium courtesy of M&S to photograph the flagship store using a Canon 70D coupled with the Canon EF 17-40mm ultra wide angle lens and Adobe Lightroom to refine the images. I worked with the Global Visual Merchandising and Window team which got me involved in organising and branding the annual Global Visual Merchandising Conference, creating Window Buying Catalogues, initial window research and designs being fully immersed in the VM process from the top down. I started working at Dimension London just before I started studying BA Advertising at UAL: London College of Communications. The more I learned at university the more I applied it to Dimension London's Marketing; from designing flyers to creating and managing their social media accounts. I was lucky to work with an open minded management team who allowed me to venture into Advertising and Branding techniques and designs that they were missing out on.
