About me
I am a Literature and History graduate (University of East Anglia) looking for experience in the publishing industry. I am particularly interested in working in a communication, publicity or marketing based role. My experience includes running UEA's student publishing label, Egg Box, for two years during which I was editor-in-chief of Underpass, the annual creative writing anthology. I also spent a year editing the features section of UEA's student newspaper, Concrete. I am open to different jobs in various locations and enjoy working with all kinds of people, whether large groups or small, and particularly engaging with customers, as I do at my part-time job as front of house staff at a busy Norwich pub.

In consideration of UEA’s excellent reputations for its creative writing courses, I felt that students lacked opportunities to gain an insight and experience in publishing. I set up a publishing society in 2015 with the aim that all students (not just those studying literature) could get a taste of publishing: whether independent or professional, large or small. We started making zines and holding workshops for people to experiment with self-publishing, but in 2016 decided to amalgamate with and re-brand UEA's existing imprint, Egg Box, and ever since have focussed on ensuring this is run by and for students, offering increasing experience in editorial, design, marketing, publicity, and all the elements that go in to a book. Egg Box publishes UEA’s annual undergraduate creative writing anthology, and as of 2016 any student can get involved in the publishing process. In my role as editor-in-chief of the fourth anthology, Underpass, I manage a group of thirty student editors as well as a key editorial team of five, liaising with members of staff, authors, students past and present, local artists and media. Since the takeover, Egg Box has begun hosting careers events to help students decide which area of publishing is right for them and advising them how to embark on their publishing journey, as well as attending fairs and markets where our members have gained experience in marketing, sales and publicity face-to-face. We continue to expand and update our website, www.eggboxpublishing.com which helps everyone feel like part of Egg Box, and allows our members to experience online marketing as well as web design.

I have just completed a joint honours degree at UEA and expect to receive 2.i (68) upon graduation in July. I enjoyed immersing myself in all aspects of University life, particularly with the media collective, and founded the university's publishing society, Egg Box.
