About me
Tommy Pao Han Lin graduated from BA menswear at London College of Fashion in 2016. Before he made his way to one of the world's most prestigious fashion institutes, he launched linberheim in Taipei, Taiwan and debuted his first collection – Pre-Fall 2013. As a former business graduate, Tommy started up his own business after attending fashion design short courses and working with designers and stylists for a year. Tommy positions himself as a designer looking for exciting details and construction, with an ultimate desire for ready-to-wear. He is keen on exploring garment technology and breaking boundaries, he thinks clothes are made for human body so the purpose is to make them fun but wearable. Tommy constantly projects political views, social and environmental issues, or deep thoughts of human to his projects seeking to provoke awareness of what is happening to the global society. After relaunching linberheim as linberheim lin, Tommy would carry on solidifying his unique approach towards menswear and sought after the ultimate dream as an independent designer.
Projects
  • m.n.n.n.m. x adidas
m.n.n.n.m. x adidasA project in collaboration with adidas creating a concept infusing sportswear into contemporary menswear. The group of designers, Tommy, Kim, Jan, Leighton and Helen together turned their attention to a set of different workwear and uniforms for 5 distinctive occupations and played with details which conceal the inspiration of working out at work.
  • HUMAN MACHINE X YI LING KUO
HUMAN MACHINE X YI LING KUOThis AW16/17 Collection explores the essence of human mechanisms in both fundamental and futuristic aspects. We picture absent humanity as the breakdown of human body. This has become a centre point in our research. Moving parts being disassembled and reassembled has inspired us to focus on human mechanisms. By looking at a range of artists’ work, such as Hans Bellmer, Stelarc, and so on, we took Bellmer’s silhouetts and utilised Brion Gysin’s Cut Up Technique to work on a series of collages t
  • Underneath
UnderneathInspired by paint workers renewing wall paint, leaving the old layers of paint underneath the new ones, this idea stresses that although we are embracing lives full of new adventures, we should never forget about the past. Setting the natural peel of old paint as a starting point, I seek for proper material to reflect the real effect. I hand crafted a series of graffiti related textile processes using techniques such as applique, bonding materials, fabric painting and free embroidery and finally came to the magical matching of free embroidery and leather applique. Based on a series of workwear silhouettes, this collection has taken consideration into the roughness and toughness of heavy duty workwear along with good quality and nicely finished details.
