About me
After eight years as a tour guide in Rome, Italy, I feel that I've outgrown the role. Due to my lifelong passion for words, I'm ready for a new challenge in the content development sector. In my freelance roles as a correspondent, social media manager, and writer, I've crafted blogs and articles across the culture, travel, health, and fashion industries. I demonstrate my keen grasp of language in my portfolio, and in my capacity as a freelance editor. I received the Academic Achievement Award while pursuing an MA in Creative Writing, and graduated with a Distinction. With these accomplishments in mind, I'm eager to expand upon my burgeoning career. I garnered an array of relevant, transferrable skills as a tour guide. Leading tours in multiple sites, and to different groups, made adept in producing captivating narratives for targeted audiences. The role required extensive research, and effective public speaking. As such, I have vital experience in collating and relaying information to a segmented demographic, key responsibilities for content developers. I also amassed outstanding interpersonal skills in leading groups of up to 50 people, along with the ability to stay focused in fluctuating, and stressful situations. Liaising with museums and other historical sites exercised my fluent Italian, and talents at organisation. With my writing background and flair for communicating, I believe that I could be a great fit for a content development position.
Projects
  • "The Cup Is Always Half Full"
"The Cup Is Always Half Full"In my capacity as head of marketing I wrote a series of blogs and articles to promote The Kingston Natural Health Centre. "The Cup Is Always Half Full" explains the machinations of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and how it's offered at the centre. Academic research, source referencing, and the succinct relaying of information are key elements of this piece.
  • What in the Blazes Is Tavola Calda?!"
What in the Blazes Is Tavola Calda?!"The article describes a cultural phenomenon unique to Italian culture called 'tavola calda'. The term refers to a hot selection of fresh meals served around lunchtime, and highlights the importance of eating well, even during work hours. Having lived in Rome for over a decade, I used my own personal insight, plus light research while crafting and editing the piece.
  • "Buried Memory in Namibia's Seas of Sand"
"Buried Memory in Namibia's Seas of Sand"The article utilises the harsh terrain of Namibia's landscape as a backdrop for its tumultuous history. I researched, crafted, and edited this work.
