About me
"Patrícia has been evolving an artistic manner, which essential feature is the obsessive pursuit after traditional pictorial solutions, however her paintings are full of conceptual elements. This Sisyphus-like struggle to complete a work, never targets perfection. For her a painting is finished, when a catharsis-like state seems to take shape from the chaos. The recent attempts show through the continuously recomposed, repainted palimpsest surfaces. To her painting method, Sigmund Freud’s ‘Wunderblock’ could be a perfect metaphor. Similarly to the magic construction, she conceals the primary layers, which remain preserved in the deeper layers of the painting, determining not just the final tone, color and shape, but the physical and emotional context of the work as well." (Viktoria Popovics, assistant curator at Ludwig Museum Budapest)
