About me
Paul brings a high level of critical thinking
and controlled spatial composition to the
projects within the studio. He understands
the power of narrative to create deep-seated, emotional engagement with people
and places which stems from a focus in
mapping studies and sensory design.
His architecture and interior design
experience is unique having worked across
a number of sectors; from town centre
masterplanning, adaptive reuse of listed
buildings and commerce refurbishments to
high-spec hospitality and workspace.
Paul studied architecture followed by
urban design at Newcastle University —
Blueprint journal acknowledged him in the
top 50 design graduates of 2009. Before
establishing ALT STUDIOS, he spent
eight years at Ryder Architecture, which
culminated in the design and delivery of the
multi award-winning headquarter building
for Tombola on the River Wear, Sunderland.
For ten years alongside practice, Paul
delivered a masters module and served as a
visiting critic at the School of Architecture,
Planning and Landscape within Newcastle
University. Currently, he is a RIBA Future
Architects mentor and a STEM ambassador
supporting aspiring architects at university
and secondary school pupils respectively.
