I am currently the marketing assistant/social media executive for car leasing company, Blue Chilli Cars. My day to day consists of monitoring and maintaining social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as maintaining budget for their Facebook Ad campaigns and distributing across numerous posts. I maintain their website by scouring the internet for the best deals and offers before uploading them to their website via an in house system. I also liaise with the marketing manager to ensure we have the most reach to our clients. As well as the above, I am responsible for monitoring Google Analytics each morning to check how many inquiries we received from numerous sources and filling out a report on our keyword tracking to show where we place in a Google search from multiple searches. I am also responsible for the weekly flyer which is scheduled to go out each Saturday morning, this includes our best deals from the week with business and personal prices to our 10,000 strong database.
As the Junior Marketing Executive I was responsible for looking after one of our client’s social media channels. In total there were 11 channels which I looked after on both Facebook and Twitter. Along with the client’s social media, I was responsible for the maintenance of Cuckoo’s Pinterest account, this required me to upload, engage and create content for the channel. During the time I was there, I learnt a lot, the biggest challenge was how to diversify my skillset and broaden it to incorporate the fast pace which an agency provides. The nature of the job enabled me to liaise among all 11 individual channels to incorporate into a social media plan. As well as looking after the client’s social media and Cuckoo’s Pinterest I also helped the office manager with the upkeep of my colleagues timesheets, cleaning mugs and cups at the end of the day along with opening job quotes and purchase orders. I would answer the phones and be the first point of contact when a client walked through the door, I’d set the meeting rooms up for them and provide them with refreshments if required.
As the social media apprentice, I have to liaise with the PR manager to create an effective social media strategy to implement across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This requires me to create social media plans for each month before it has to be signed off and posted each day. I create competitions for our consumers to enter via social media as well as implementing it and monitoring it. I have to come up with a way which will be most attractive to entrants and which will allow for the most reach on social media as well as entering all the data into a document before picking winners and contacting them. As well as this I help out with the marketing team in a day-to-day role whereby I help check brochures, source images and help sorting web content. It gives me a few diverse tasks and allows me to work within the team becoming more experienced in multiple areas. I have to answer customer queries and liaise with other teams to find a quick and effective solution for the consumer. Sometimes this may require me coming up with select styles from our current clothing season or aiding a customer through the website and dealing with any other technical errors they may be having. I also have to develop and maintain the company blog, along with receiving blogs from external sources before scheduling content in.
This was awarded upon completion of my 12 month apprenticeship at Regatta Great Outdoors.
