Freelance writer, editor and comms consultantHobart TAS, Australia
About me
I am based in Hobart, Australia as a freelance writer, editor and communications consultant. As a writer, I cover finance, the arts, sustainable living, business, environment, food, health and wellbeing. As an editor and communications consultant, I cover pretty much everything! Having had such a diverse career means I'm incredibly flexible and have been able to adapt my skills to whatever the client requires. It's also helped me grow a strong skill set in turning complex information into accessible, engaging content for non-technical audiences (if I have a superpower, that's probably it). My style is "corporate creative" - I can be one or the other, or both! Having said that, I do specialise in B2B/B2C content creation and corporate social media management. I enjoy helping people tell the story of their brand, working with them to understand who their audience is and how they can best connect with them. I have had a very diverse career across a variety of sectors. I was based in the United Kingdom from 2007 to 2018, where I held roles such as Editorial Manager at BMJ Publishing Group and Editor and Communications Adviser at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. I am passionate about telling stories and translating financial results and project impacts into accessible communications to keep stakeholders and staff engaged and informed. I’ve been writing online since 2005 and I ran an award-winning lifestyle blog in my spare time for nearly 10 years, which gave me invaluable experience in creating and growing an online platform and community. As a result, I have a sound understanding of writing for the web and engaging online audiences, including SEO best practice and management of social media channels. I have also worked as a freelance journalist so I am well-versed in managing media requests and announcements. I offer a range of editorial services for creatives, businesses and organisations. My skills include (but are certainly not limited to) copywriting, editing, proofreading, social media management, corporate/brand style guidance and digital content creation.
