  • The Horizons Project
The Horizons ProjectA fellow student and I were commissioned by ‘Castlerock Edinvar Housing Association’ to paint a permanent installation on Edinburgh’s Cowgate. The 10 Pillars are situated on the building of the ‘Horizons Project’, a support centre for vulnerable youths in Edinburgh. Our designs sought to engage with the public and brighten up the area, which has continuously been exposed to vandalism. Through meeting and building relationships with the 'Horizons Project' service users we became acutely aware of the economic and social problems that young people in Edinburgh face daily. We worked alongside the users at various stages of the project, they provided us with positive messages they identify with. These quotations reflect the aims of the project and have been incorporated into the colourful imagery. The text wraps around each pillar, inviting the viewer to stop and interact with them.
  • Spring Collective
Spring CollectiveI co-founded an independent design agency with two fellow students called ‘Spring Collective’. We run this within our course and have 8 employees spanning the different year groups. We brought together varying experience and styles to produce visually diverse and effective outcomes, learning from each other’s ways of working. This has been an incomparable experience. Negotiating and balancing friendships, whilst delegating tasks to my peers all without the transaction of money has been a challenge. Careful documentation and weekly reflection with my agency has made me aware of my own personal strengths regarding my interpersonal skills and helped me build on weaker areas.
  • Regeneration
RegenerationThis piece explores social housing issues in London. Initial images were taken from the Heygate Estate in Elephant and Castle, in which over 1,200 flats were emptied for the regeneration project with the promise of only 79 units in the new development. The patterned image is a reflection of the continuous pattern of people losing their homes for urban regeneration projects in the city. I deconstructed the photographs of the desolate site just as the residents lives were deconstructed. From them created this kaleidoscopic screen-printed image.
