An accomplished communicator both in person and in writing, holding a First Class BA (Hons) in Creative Writing. Experienced in all aspects of customer service, administration, in the organisation and delivery of a range of formal and informal educational events, lectures and workshops, fundraising events and student recruitment events. Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and accomplished in working as part of, and helping to coordinate, a team. At the core of my current and previous role has been ensuring that all supporters, from academics to students and dignitaries, receive smooth service, with the most excellent customer care. This begins with processing all relevant payments and distributing their Welcome Packs in a timely fashion and is continued by providing an exciting programme of rewarding activities and events throughout the year. This year alone I have managed twenty-five events both at the zoos and further afield. Part of the project management for these events includes liaising with leading scientists and academics, who will be presenting at the event.
Achievements include: • Project managing ZSL’s first Pop-Up Shop in Carnaby Street. • Developing a series of ‘Pop-Up’ Conservation events for ZSL’s Pop-Up Shop. • Managing the relationship with fashion designer Elizabeth Emanuel who has developed an exclusive range of products for the ZSL campaign Lions400. • Managing and delivering twenty-five onsite events, lectures and workshops every year. Role and Responsibilities include: • Planning and delivering external Student Fellow recruitment activity, in association with leading universities. • Designing and implementing a programme of Patron and Fellowship recruitment events, ensuring that appropriate messages and materials are used, and timely, tailored follow up takes place leading to an ask. • Researching, recommending and testing other methods of Fellowship and Patron recruitment, in conjunction with the Development Manager and relevant colleagues. • Working with the Development Manager to identify eminent and high-profile prospects and supporters who could act as external ambassadors for ZSL, and helping to develop and implement plans to secure their support. • Drafting tailored, impactful and relevant written communications, including event invitations, letters, website updates and proposals. • Managing all Fellows programme, Patrons programme and associated administration. • Ensuring that all printed material is up to date, including the relevant pages on zsl.org.
Achievements include: • Developed the Student Fellowship recruitment drive, across London and the South East. Forming mutually beneficial relationships with leading educational establishments across the capital. • Devised an annual programme of ‘Women in Zoology’ events for the ZSL Library in celebration of International Women’s’ Day. Role and Responsibilities include: • Planned and delivered Fellowship recruitment activity both on and off site. • Planned and delivered of a series of on-site Fellowship events, lectures and workshops aimed at retention of existing Fellows. • Planned and delivered external Fellowship recruitment activity in association with leading UK Universities. • Held a key role in the planning and delivery of the Annual General Meeting and associated Fellows activities, Stamford Raffles lecture and reception at London Zoo. • Co-ordinated and administered the renewal and retention process for existing Fellows including the Council approval process for all new applications • Co-ordinated of the Fellowship Council ballot and election process.
• Administered customer issues covering both ZSL London and Whipsnade across all of media used e.g. phone, email, social media etc. • Resolved customer complaints appropriately within guidelines. • Provided feedback to the relevant departments where issues have been raised in response to customer feedback. • Accurately recorded supporter activities on the relevant database including developing and building the knowledge base • Worked with a variety of databases and systems including Patron Edge, Raisers Edge, Workbench, Artifax, and Smart TPS. • Developed working knowledge of Bankers Automated Clearing Systems (BACS) direct debit processes, and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) Gift Aid processes
• Wrote and led informative and educational workshops. These workshops would range from sessions about the destruction of the Rainforests to making enrichment devices for the Aye-Ayes. • Wrote and performed ‘Feed talks’ and lead public feeds of animals including Giraffes, Squirrel Monkeys & Penguins. • Ran a range of educational activities for all age groups including school groups. • Assisting at ‘After hours’ events. These events were held for the national press, members of the public and high profile supporters. • Ran ‘Making’ workshops. This is where visitors get to make activities for various zoo animals.
