I am a Filmmaker, Production Assistant and member of sorryyoufeeluncomfortable collective, and I have just completed a Masters in Documentary Film at Sussex University. Through Masters study I gained skills in Camera Operating, Editing, Scoring and additional Directing experience. Recently, I have been doing some work Running and Assisting on Music Video shoots and am aiming to continue to build on that experience. My personal film, visual work and musical output is informed by social and political theory, my Undergraduate study in Anthropology and my lived experience as a queer Black woman in the UK. My work seeks to highlight the nuances of marginalised experiences, using the power of visual media and sound to move through representation and into the realm of liberation. With sorryyoufeeluncomfortable I programme and produce events and exhibitions in arts institutions in a small team. We have worked with INiVA, The Showroom, October Gallery, The Wellcome Collection, Institute of Contemporary Art, Art Rotterdam, Framer Framed and 198 Contemporary Arts & Learning. I am also a DJ, one of gal-dem's residents, and so have an intimate knowledge of sound.Locked Pro Plan feature
Formed out of the Baldwin's Nigger Reloaded Project initiated by artist Barby Asante and curator Teresa Cisneros, sorryyoufeeluncomfortable is a collective united by a rejection of the idea that we are living in a post-racial, post-patriarchal, post-heteronormative and post-colonial society. The collective is formed of young artists, thinkers, makers and activists who are committed to contributing to intersectional struggles for liberation through creative practice. They have presented work and curated events at InIVA, The Wellcome Collection, Art Rotterdam, The International James Baldwin Conference Paris, The Showroom, The October Gallery, 198 Contemporary Arts & Learning and the Black Film, British Cinema Conference 2017. They are currently Young Associates at the Institute of Contemporary Arts London.
