I'm a photographer based in the North West of England who graduated with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) degree in Photographer from the Manchester School of Art in 2017. Currently, I am working on expanding and diversifying my portfolio through collaboration with other creatives and areas of the industry. My most recently completed project was titled ‘EVERYDAY ACTS’, and explored the relationship between identity politics and self-presentation, with a focus on millennial feminism. This body of work was shown at both the Manchester School of Art degree show (June 2017) and The Post Silver Exhibition, which saw a collective of MMU students taking their work to London’s Hoxton Arches in July 2017. Much of my previous work has been made in response to questions surrounding identity and experience, with aesthetics borrowed from left-leaning political movements, as well as both documentary and editorial photography.
Projects
- EVERYDAY ACTSEveryday Acts is a project that documents the relationship between identity politics and self-presentation, with a particular focus on millennial feminism and the women involved in, and thus shaping, the movement. Born from the artist’s interest in what we can communicate about ourselves and our beliefs through our presentation of style and self, its intent is to use visual language as a tool for creating a positive platform for conversations around womanhood; be that through the clothing of the subjects, the photographic work itself, or the way in which the work is exhibited for an audience. Aesthetically, it borrows conventions from the DIY art and zines that illustrated earlier political movements and manifestos.
