Multi Award-Winning Director/Editor Raj Pathak
Specialising in shorts, corporate works and commercials, with a background in music videos and live music performance showcases.
Raj’s love for films started at a very young age; son to film and photography enthusiast parents, his main influences came from the 1960’s Bollywood cinema, sci-fi classics, experimenting with his dad’s Minolta 35mm film camera and watching films from the local video rental shop. After speaking to the Channel 4 film crew creating a documentary in his village, his interest in working in the entertainment industry started. He studied drama at college in Nottingham and penned his first feature script during his commute. Aged 17, he was gifted a MiniDV camcorder and made music videos for his friends in local bands, which premiered at Broadway Cinema, Nottingham. Whilst creating these he realised that he wanted to be a director.
He spent 7 years in Los Angeles developing his skills, knowledge and contacts within the entertainment industry. He worked on music videos and feature films, including Dodgeball starring Ben Stiller. In the UK he directed the 45-minute film ‘Piece by Piece’ for the Education Board, Police and Capitol One, promoting awareness of gun and knife crime. He also created the award winning short thriller/zombie film ‘The End’, named as ‘Best Horror’ at the 2014 Limelight Film Awards. In 2016, Raj directed the winning sketch in a regional talent search show ‘Sketch Up’ receiving praise from BAFTA award-winning judges Al Clark, Wellington Films and Nic Harvey, Director of the Actors Television Workshop. The short film adaptation of this is has been picked up by an international distributor for a term of 3 years in 3 territories.
?In addition to directing, he has panelled film festivals with fellow industry professionals and is the curator of Exposure Photography Exhibition, creating a platform for photographers to “Show, Network and Discover”.
Raj is currently freelancing as Director/Editor on corporate contracts and commercials. He is always looking for the next artistic challenge and is currently involved in the art-house romance/thriller ‘Clementine’ beginning production in summer 2016.
