  • Intertwine | Soft Furnishings
Intertwine | Soft Furnishings Intertwine is a narrative exploring connections, inspired by contrasting expressive marks and structure to represent the interlinking narrative between architecture and nature, culture and people. By exploring the relationship between the visual and tactile qualities of fabric construction, I seek to ensure longevity within my designs.
  • Intertwine | Upholstery
Intertwine | UpholsteryIntertwine is a narrative exploring connections, inspired by contrasting expressive marks and structure to represent the interlinking narrative between architecture and nature, culture and people. By exploring the relationship between the visual and tactile qualities of fabric construction, I seek to ensure longevity within my designs. My visual research identifies where the structural framework of buildings, their rough textures and jagged lines, are equally found in the natural environment. This led me to look at the overlap between interlinking lines in architecture and natural lines, such as the cactus’s natural framework which has created a fuzz and softer side to my project. This dirctly inspired my Jacquard designs.
  • South African Mohair Live Project
South African Mohair Live ProjectWorked with the Mohair South Africa Company to create innovative samples to promote the Mohair fiber. Working as a team across textile specialism to deliver an on trend fashion collection for the promotion of the mohair fiber We decided to work towards a Tran-seasonal collection, working from winter to spring 2017/18. To work with the sustainability aspect of the fiber we tried to evoke luxurious and durable fabrics, which have a timeless quality. Working for a high-end market, which is on trend but not fast fashion. We aim to break into the Nordic market therefore our styling is heavily influenced by there styling and brands. ‘An Instinct for survival’ was our starting point following the brief South African Mohair set out, we selected the theme ‘Living on the edge’. The concept we developed was ‘Making Tracks’, as people who live on the edge and have an alternative life style make their own route in life leaving often very personal temporary marks on the environment. We worked out three key phases that we felt evoked the theme effectively, these where Imprint, raw and Finding the unexpected. The concept made us focus on looking at details and mark which are often over looked in our everyday lives. I received special commendations for work for the South African Mohair Textile live project. Exhibited at the International Mohair University Design Competition hosted at Donghua University, Shanghai on 22 April 2016.
