Parker Harris Partnership is a leading arts consultancy organisation, specialising in expert creation and delivery of visual arts projects. I undertook contractual work as an administration assistant mainly in the coordination of different visual arts projects, events, and art prizes for example the Jerwood Drawing Prize (a renowned open call submission for drawing in the UK). My role entailed administering works entered into open calls, meeting with artists, handling, packing and storing art works carefully and efficiently, filling out administrative paperwork, communicating the management and clients, meeting with couriers and overall making sure the whole process runs smoothly and within the restricted deadlines.
OUTPOST is an artist-run gallery that since it’s founding in 2004 has established itself as a leading centre for artist activity in the East of England, hosting a programme of 7 shows per year. My role as an student invigilator at this gallery involved frequent communication with visitors, greeting and informing members of the public, industry and prospective clients about the current shows, having excellent knowledge on the exhibitions, the artists and the establishment, undertaking administration tasks and general maintenance and security of the gallery and office.
I worked as a part time Sales Advisor, my roles included customer assistance, visual merchandising, advising customers on products, cashier work, working in the changing rooms, keeping the store clean and in order, dealing with store deliveries, processing and shipping customer orders.
I spent 5 weeks abroad in Spain for two summers, working in a small fashion boutique. Estilo is a thriving high street womenswear company. I was able to offer my communication skills in both English and Spanish, to communicate with customers and co-workers. While further developing my communication skills, this position allowed me to work creatively and also enabled me to gain more experience in visual merchandising and meeting sales targets.
A 3 year course, allowing you to work in a multidisciplinary environment within a creative community. The course encourages experimentation, creative thinking, problem solving and collaboration and enhances the development of skills, knowledge and challenging ideas. Overall developing an individual creative practice and work ethic.
Multidisciplinary course- Fashion, Visual Communication, Fine Art and 3D Design. Developing skills in preparation for a bachelors degree in the arts
