Bradford is a very grey industrial town; this somewhat had an adverse effect on my experimentation and expression of colour within my designs. Y-L (Yorkshire-London) is the concept for my Womenswear final collection, it represents a journey a reflection of past and present. The collection illustrates my design aesthetic and the focus on creating fabric which one may consider unconventional, using 3-Dimensional Spacer fabrics reinforced with wire, aluminium water-jet cut printed sequins for embellishment, creating an armour. A piece of cloth as a base to work on combining techniques of bonding, heat moulding, screen printing and foiling amongst others to provide a flicker a light a layer of the metropolis. Y-L illuminated through futuristic printed textiles, reinforcing the boundaries of what fabric is today. Collaboration is an significant aspect of my work in order to create a 3-Dimensional imaging of the garments, collaborating with videographers, photographers, stylists and other designers within the creative industry allows me to create an atmosphere for my designs.
